I have a brand new website that I want to let others know about. I have released press releases already on sites like digg and PRleap and have emailed hundreds of influential news sites and bloggers. Although traffic has seen an increase, it is not nearly as high as I thought it would be.

I like to find out more about people I can send my press release to that would make a difference. People that are influential and are willing to read the press release. Any thoughts?

An interactive advertising company that I sent my resume to called me today. They would like me to write a press release saying why I am suited for the job, and why I am qualified. She said she is looking for attention-to-detail and creativity. I looked up how to write a press release online, but I want to know if any of you have any creative ideas that would blow her away?!

My last press release was visible on Yahoo News but not in the specific industry that I wanted it to be in. The PR newswire told me that they don’t decide what goes where on Yahoo. The content of the last release had alot of industry specific terms (basic), so I thought it would show up in Aviation News where I wanted it to be. Any assistance is appreciated

I’m trying to do a press release for my new book, it seems to be missing something. I’m not sure. I’ve written one for my first book but it’s, I don’t know…… just different. The feel is off somehow.

WWE Press Release:
“Today’s attempt to explain that Chris Benoit’s murder of his family was possibly caused by some form of dementia as a result of alleged concussions is speculative. WWE can certainly understand the anguish of a father having to deal with the fact that his son allegedly murdered his wife and young son, as Chris Benoit is alleged to have done. We respect the desire of that father to do whatever he can to find some explanation as to why his son might commit such horrible acts.
Jennifer McIntosh, a spokesperson for WWE was quoted as saying that WWE found, “no medical records of [Benoit] suffering a concussion. We don’t have any answers as to why Chris did what he did. We’re still awaiting the law enforcement investigation to be concluded.”

Not only do they make Michael Benoit sound like he’s desperate, but they refuse to believe that brain damage caused his actions. No concussions? I don’t think so. He wasn’t a monster. So why would the WWE keep thinking he was?

What types of information related to a particular business justify submitting a press release? For example, would the following justify sending out a press release:

* A blog that’s supplementary to your main site that is there solely for informational purposes

* Adding new landing pages to your site

* The launch of a company newsletter

The company I work for has either already begun or is about to begin all of the above. Can we send out a press release for all? For any?

Thank you so much! Any guidance is appreciated!
Thank you to everyone! All answers were helpful so I’m not able to narrow it down to just one person.

I have a small Internet business and have done a few press releases in the past, but nothing serious. In the past I have sent them out last minute with the generic header of “For Immediate Release”

I’m getting ready to release a new product and want to do it the right way this time. So, are you supposed to send them out a day ahead and put “immediate release”, or is it actually preferred to send them ahead of time and put something like “release on June 29, 2007″ to give them some planning time?

I can see the advantage of sending them early [not sure how early?]. But I would also assume that if sent early that they may be forgotten about by the time the date actually comes along. Any thoughts? Thank you!

I’m running a political campaign and will be sending out a press release to all the local media contacts tomorrow. How do I get them to notice it? I’m sure they get a lot of press releases and ignore most of them. Should I paste the text of it into the email and also attach it as an attachment? If it’s a mass email how do I address it — “Dear Member of the Press”?
