What’s the difference bewteen an article and a press release ? ?

I’m trying to submit some new about our company to some press release sites. They say ” please only submit press-release not articles” What the difference in this case ?

    Articles are written from an outside agency…press releases are produced by the company itself.

    A press release is an announcement of an event, performance, or other newsworthy item that is issued to the press and would contain pertinent information about the event.

    A news article typically contains much more information than a press release, such as history and purpose of the company.
