One of the best press release distribution (and one of the biggest) is PR Newswire . They have a huge distribution network. The downside though is that they are pricey.

For 2008, their membership rate is $195, which you need to pay annually (whether you send a press release or not). When you send a press release, entire US market distribution costs $680 for the first 400 words, and $185 for additional 100 words. If you decide to release only within your state, then the rates are about $180-$285 depending on the size of your local media market

However, you will often see better results if you actually contact the editors in your local publication, talk to them and ask them about stories they are working on and how your business can help them. Be a resource person for them. Or let them know of unique angles about your business that sounds newsworthy and likely to interest their audiences.

Dealing with the editors directly is a little time consuming, but often way more effective compared to paying almost $900 and then getting nothing in return except for maybe about 50 new visitors to your website.
